LASTING WEALTH
Daniel Morriss moved into community in 1991 at the age of 19. Apart from two years away, he has lived in community ever since. He is a worship leader and works as an architectural technician. Two years ago, he married Jemma, who works as a marketing assistant in the community's wholesale wholefoods business

Daniel and Jemma Morriss'Community is is a walk of faith, living out a call. To attempt to build some kind of natural community and open wide the doors of your house and heart is nothing short of idiotic,' says Daniel. 'Community is not a game. Nor is it a trendy alternative lifestyle. It is faith in action. God is building something with the people who come here.

'Every one of the Jesus Fellowship's 40 large and 40 small houses is different. After all, a community can only be what the people living in it are prepared to be. My community house 'Living Stones' leans towards the 'unstructured' side. Where there's less rules, you need more character. And that proves the genuineness of people's hearts.'

Despite the highs and lows, stresses and strains of community living, Daniel would not want to exchange his lifestyle and believes lasting wealth can only be found in community.

'I wouldn't be here if I wanted a cosy life! Yes, you are perpetually invaded by all kinds of people, some of whom may be the last people you'd have in your own house if you had one - but you'd be impoverished without it.'

Jemma Morriss: 'Community is about knowing people and being known. It's the best way to know yourself too! More than sharing a physical house, it's the total sharing of our lives, being vulnerable and accountable to each other'.
